Sophal & Sophay New Hope Children's Homes + Learn more about NHO *quotes are left as originally written by our Cambodian staff. Please remember that English is their second language. The children who come to NHO arrive for many different reasons. Some have been abandoned by both parents. Some have lost one parent to death and the other abandoned them. Some have lost both parents to death. They either did not have extended family or their extended family was unable to care for them. The one thing that they all have in common is that they were alone. They were facing a world of starvation, crime, disease, prostitution, slavery and death. Two new children just arrived. Several days before Christmas, Ps. Phalla, the administrator at our orphanage in Koh Kong, received information about a mother with her 2 children. The mother was very ill from HIV/AIDS. Ps. Phalla visited the family and shared Christ's love with them. The mother told Phalla
that she knew that she was close to death. She was
concerned about her children's future and asked Phalla
to take care of them. As the days progressed, Phalla continued to visit and stay with the family. The mother's health deteriorated and she went to the hospital. On December 26, 2006 she passed away. Sophal, her 17 year old son, and Sophay, her 6 year old daughter, were overcome with grief. Their family's property had been sold to help with the mother's healthcare. Their extended family has refused to help them because of the mother's illness. They felt hopeless about their future. Please read the following words sent to us by our staff in Phnom Penh on December 26. ![]() "Today, the Mother died, the older boy and sister is crying sorry the Mother, and the older boy is BOW to me asking for help, I almost cry as seeing his tear and hear his word of Crying for help, help him and sister and his future....Before the Mother died, she was crying to the Lord and ask the Lord receive her life." - Ban Boeurn - NHO Administrator - quoting from his wife, Vanna. The mother found hope, freedom and her future just before her death. Now her two children are safe and seeing hope at New Hope for Orphans. Sophay is staying at our facility in Koh Kong. Sophal has gone to our facility in Phnom Penh so that he can receive more education. They are in the depths of grief now, but the Lord has placed them so that they can have a brighter future. The bright rays of hope are already shining as you can see in the following statement from Boeurn on December 29. "Yesterday, I was with Sophal to buy a bike, I can tell you, it so taught his heart, he say in almost 10 years of his life he never get bike, food, good place to stay. He so exciting almost cry and say that the Lord save his life." - Ban Boeurn - NHO Administrator. |
